Ophelia Brooke Keagan is a 16 year old girl, but she seems to be much older. Her parents died in a car accident when she was twelve and from then on, she lived with her aunt Fran. But her aunt didn't have any children and she wasn't planning on having some either. With her busy job as an estate agent, she was often awy from home, so Ophelia had to do pretty much everything on her own. So she needed to mature really fast. Also, she had to cope with bullying really bad. That made her flee into selfharm. It took a long time, but she won it and now she's confident with herself again.
 
This year, she's making a change. She turned 16 in the summer and now, she wants to live on her own. She changed to another school and she wants to move too. Her aunt, realizing she hasn't been a good mom and she'll never be one either, supports her plan.
Ophelia broke with everyone she knows. She ignored her friends from her hometown all summer long, she broke up with her boyfriend, completely ignoring him too afterwards.
She just wants to start over and build up her life the way she wants it.
